Histological appearances in muscle biopsies from adults with GH deficiency have been essentially normal, with no signs of myopathy. Treatment with GH results in no detectable changes, in line with the suggestion that improvements in muscle function are primarily related to increased muscle mass and possibly metabolic performance.
